Provide the Service: Stream video, manage accounts, process payments.
Monetization: Calculate creator revenue based on validated watch time.
Fraud Detection: Identify and prevent fraudulent streaming activity (bot streams, view manipulation, device farming).
Security: Protect accounts, detect unauthorized access, enforce playback token integrity.
Communication: Send account-related emails (password resets, payment confirmations, policy updates).
Improvement: Analyze usage patterns to improve the platform experience.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not share your viewing history with advertisers. We do not run ads on the platform.

4. Data Retention

Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
Viewing history: Retained for 12 months for monetization calculations, then anonymized.
Payment records: Retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations.
Fraud detection data: Retained for 24 months for pattern analysis.
Creator content: Retained until the creator removes it or the account is closed.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
Data Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.

Hashed passwords (never stored in plain text).
Signed, time-bound playback tokens to prevent unauthorized access.
Rate limiting on authentication endpoints.
Append-only audit logs for all security-relevant events.

8. Children's Privacy

SurrealCast is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our infrastructure providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
